On the north edge of Central Basin of Lake Burley Griffin, close to Nerang Pool, looking south. The RG Menzies walk is just behind the viewing position. Here we see the National Library (right), the Parliament House flag pole and Questacon. In the Basin we can see 2 fireworks pontoons.
Just to the left of the first shot we see the High Court of Australia and more fireworks pontoons. By 7:12pm ome ominous clouds had rolled in and there was very light rain.
And further to the left is the Carillion on Aspen island and in the distance Kings Avenue bridge. And again a few more fireworks pontoons.
To the west the sky was clearing and a nice sunset had developed. But the wind is up and the water has texture.
It's now 7:44pm and to the east the sky, lake and foliage are dark against the Carillion, the lights of Kings Avenue bridge and the Kingston forshores.
To the west we have a picturesque sunset and the now prominent lights of Commonwealth Avenue bridge.
A closer view of the High Court and surrounds with a ferry (red and white light blur) and a small utility boat (yellow aqua blur) passing near the far side of the lake. The international flags on the promenade are just visible.
It is now 8pm. The orange sunset is fading, leaving a deep blue sky. Fireworks start in 30 minutes.
Nightfall at Central Basin
All is ready...
Skyfire 25 is underway!
A white, purple and red 3-layered fan and 2 golden furry stars light up the lake and the National Library.
